Vizuäl, Inc., a strategic branding firm located in Herndon, VA, is looking for an experienced Art Director who has proven his/her ability to develop and manage high-end creative services, including print, Web & interactive media, branding, advertising and direct mail. Experience:
- Macintosh literacy required.
- 3+ years work experience as an art director or senior graphic designer, preferably in a creative services firm.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator required.
- Experience in Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver desired.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee creative output of entire firm in conjunction with creative director and manage design staff
- Confer with client or individual responsible for presentation regarding budget, background information, project parameters and objectives, presentation approaches, styles, techniques, and related production factors
- Conduct research to select and secure suitable resources and formulate design concepts
- Consult and brainstorm with staff to develop innovative ideas and concepts
- Conceive and assign design and production of material to artists, photographers, contractors, etc. to prepare final approved designs for printing, fabrication, etc.
- Engage in and oversee efficient development and execution of design concepts
- Review, approve, and present creative solutions to account executive and/or client
- Supervise and prepare files for final fabrication by vendors and monitor all aspects of the fabrication process (checking proofs, bluelines, color proofs, press checks, etc.)
- Provide exceptional, proactive and strategic client and vendor service to ensure efficient and effective completion of clients' projects
- Review, select and monitor outside vendors and help acquire vendor estimates for use in proposals for potential projects
- Train staff on studio policies & procedures, design trends, and production techniques
- Evaluate and recommend new procedures and equipment for ongoing effectiveness
- Think proactively regarding marketing for the studio and all clients to maintain current design trends, production techniques, consistency and effectiveness
